A Brief Overview

Supports a clinic physician by proficiently operating the Electronic Medical Record by efficiently entering orders and documenting patient encounters for the physician; allowing him / her to focus their time on direct patient care rather than the computer. While this is not a direct patient care position, the individual may be called on periodically to perform patient care to assure efficient patient flow and high quality care and services.

What you will do

Learns and maintains proficient understanding and utilization of the EMR (LSS).

Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient encounters and procedures in the medical record.

Enters accurate, complete, legible and timely orders based on physician's orders in the medical record.

Works collaboratively as a team member with the physician, nurse(s), and receptionists in a clinic setting to provide exceptional patient care.

Maintains knowledge of preauthorization process and ensure all criteria is met before orders for advanced imaging is placed.

Ensures that the encounters have complete and accurate diagnoses and that documentation supports the appropriate billing / coding levels.

Ensures that all documentation enhances compliance with applicable documentation standards including Meaningful Use.

Assists the Physician with clinical quality measures and chronic disease management documentation and process.

Assists with a patient-centered approach to each encounter that maximizes the patient satisfaction and outcome.

Required Education, License / Certification, or Work Experience :

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Upon Hire or

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Upon Hire or

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Upon Hire or

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) Upon Hire or

National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Upon Hire

Preferred Education, License / Certification, or Work Experience :

Associate's Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or technical degree

6 months to 1 year experience and / or training
