This position serves as the Director over the Prison Enterprises section of the Department of Corrections, working from the Prison Enterprises Headquarter in Baton Rouge. The Director leads this business organization in order to reduce the cost of incarceration to the tax payers, produce products and services, and provide inmate jobs. It is made up of more than 40 industrial manufacturing, agricultural, retail, service, and support units located throughout the state.

Minimum Qualifications :
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above : Five years of experience in administrative services, industrial management or farm management plus one of the following : 1. Six years of full-time experience in any field; or 2. A bachelor's degree. OR A master's degree in an agricultural science, veterinary science, or a business-related field plus four years of experience in administrative services, industrial management or farm management or in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation or classification of offenders. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION : Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties : The Prison Enterprises Director uses sound business practices in industry and agricultural operations to be self-sustaining and work toward making a profit while working inside the prison system. They develop and maintain a proactive relationship with legislators, propose legislation, and are the voice of the Prison Enterprises system.

Compensation : The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
