Director of Agronomy Procurement

Under the direction of Vice President of Agronomy and Marketing, you will be responsible for the management of fertilizer purchases, risk management, new product introductions, inventory, and margins for an expanding agronomy business.

ESSENTIAL CORE COMPENTENCIES

• Candidate must have successful track record and possess expertise in the following areas :
• Ability to analyze / understand fertilizer market trends and clearly articulate what that means to our CEO, agronomy leadership, sales managements, and field sales personnel.
• Manage company’s product sourcing and vendor relations.
• Manage fertilizer pricing (weekly)
• Ability to oversee / direct fertilizer logistics – inbound / transfers.
• Candidate must have extensive knowledge / understanding of rail logistics associated with dry / liquid fertilizer products / distribution channels.
• Ability to manage & expand the wholesale fertilizer opportunities where possible.
• Ability to make capital spending recommendations that will support the expansion of our fertilizer business where necessary.
• Ability to introduce strategies and tactics that will differentiate AgState in our market footprint as it pertains to growing fertilizer market share.
• Good communication, interaction, and networking capability within AgState, the ag industry and AgState’s customer base.
• Has a proven track record of cash management / financial projections.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from 4 year college or university plus additional industry specific training beyond college; or ten to twelve years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
