JOB PURPOSE

An important part of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce is the Economic Development Corporation (EDC), it was the nation’s first regional economic development organization, bringing together the business community and economic development partners to promote and advance the region's economic vitality. Our Economic Research Department provides data-driven insights to guide public and private sector decision-making.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Economic Research Intern to support our research team. This position offers hands-on experience in economic data analysis and industry research. The intern will work on key projects that inform regional economic strategies and promote economic development efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities :

  • Data Collection and Analysis :
  • Gather, clean, and analyze economic, labor market, and industry-specific data from public and proprietary sources.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating internal economic databases.
  • Research and Reporting :
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research on economic development trends, policies, and market conditions.
  • Draft concise research summaries and data visualizations for internal use and external reports.
  • Project Support :
  • Assist in ongoing projects, including industry cluster studies, small area economic analysis, and market studies
  • Support the development of presentations and reports for stakeholders and public audiences.
  • Communication and Collaboration :
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to deliver accurate and timely research.
  • Participate in internal meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.

Desired Qualifications :

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in economics, public policy, business, data science, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret and visualize complex data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in regional economic development and economic research.
  • Learning Outcomes :

    By the end of the internship, the intern will :

  • Gain practical experience in economic research methodologies and data analysis.
  • Develop skills in preparing professional reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Build a portfolio of research deliverables to showcase for future employment opportunities.
