We are seeking a passionate Quality Engineer (QE) : CMM / Vision Programmer to contribute to delivering high-quality, engineered solutions to customers worldwide. You will program and operate the Smartscope Vision System (OGP, equivalents) or a CMM, including programming First Piece (Set-Up) and SPC inspection routines for new and existing programs.

Responsibilities

  • Expert knowledge of GD&T and statistics; support department inspectors in Smartscope, CMM inspection, data bases, and general inspection tools and techniques.
  • Design and generate detailed drawings using CAD for part holding fixtures used on Vision Systems SmartScopes and CMMs.
  • Update and maintain the department statistical data base and data collection software.
  • Support Engineering Department on new product development.
  • Coordinate quality requirements with Technology, Metrology, Fixture Design, and Control Plans; interface with cross-functional teams to ensure quality requirements are understood and met.
  • Develop PFMEA, Process Flow Charts, Inspection Control Plans, and statistical capability with Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, Engineering, Design and Manufacturing as needed.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications related to geometric tolerancing, gauging, statistical requirements, and related specifications.
  • Assist training inspectors in methods, statistics, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Develop inspection plans and methods including fixture and gage design using CAD software.
  • Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections of more difficult production tooling as needed; perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Two-year college degree (AS) or equivalent required.
  • Three years' experience in Quality Control / Assurance and mechanical inspection.
  • Three years of CAD design and knowledge of computer programming.
  • Proficiency in blueprint interpretation, geometric tolerance, and statistics; strong computer skills; Excel experience is a plus.
  • 3-5 years' experience in QC / QA in a tight-tolerance industry with automotive or medical customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences; organized and detail-oriented.
  • Understanding of automotive or medical industry quality requirements (FMEA, Process Flows, Control Plans, system requirements).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO TS 16949 Automotive, ISO 13485 Medical and other customer-specific requirements.
  • For incoming inspection, general knowledge of metals or resins; working knowledge of measuring equipment and data collection systems, specifically vision systems and CMM.

    This position is at our East Hanover, NJ location.

    Pay Range : $100k-$115k
