Job Summary
The Aerial Technician II will perform a variety of intermediate aerial design functions related to outside plant (OSP) cable planning. This role requires experience in aerial drafting, including Make-Ready Design, Wind Loading calculations, Field reports, and Joint Pole Authorization (JPA) forms. The Aerial Technician II will also be responsible for performing quality control and assurance to ensure project accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Generate wind load analysis using O-Calc and SPIDAcalc software.
- Prepare organized job packages for each project, including maps, field notes, drawings, digital images, and JPA forms.
- Identify attachments on utility poles, including conductors, communication lines, and equipment.
- Review and analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data from the Fielding department.
- Utilize pole loading information, including precise measurements of existing equipment, site details, and digital images.
- Conduct QA / QC reviews to ensure all aerial tasks meet client deadlines and quality standards.
- Successfully complete assigned poles and Make-Readys per day with accuracy.
- Interpret utility maps and pole records.
- Finalize Make-Ready packages using field notes and pictures.
- Perform data entry into internal computer systems and tracking tools.
- Train and mentor Aerial Technician I and Aerial Technician Trainees as needed.
- Work overtime as necessary to meet client deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 2 years of experience in wind loading technology, JPA, and Make-Ready Engineering.At least 2 years of experience working with pole loading programs such as SPIDA or O-Calc.Strong understanding of GO95 and NESC standards.Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Earth, and Adobe Acrobat.Familiarity with local city, county, and utility company design standards for obtaining permits.Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.Employment Details

Pay Rate : $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
Location : Brea, CA (Hybrid)
Schedule : 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM with a 30-minute lunch;
