Sr. Project Engineer – Energy, Plano, TX

What we're looking for
The Sr. Project Engineer position is on site at our Plano, TX location. Responsibilities include performing testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of client-provided or other national, international or industry-specific performance and durability standards or US, Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. This position will travel at least 25% of the time. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
What you'll do
- Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
- Perform certification, testing work including but not limited to Batteries, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), Combiner Boxes, On Grid & Off-Grid Inverters, DC-DC Convertors, PV Modules.
- Read and understand client-provided or otherwise published performance or product safety standards.
- Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and manufacturing instructions.
- Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
- Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
- Follow established test plan.
- Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
- Conduct construction review, create evaluation reports and test plans, conduct and / or witness testing, resolve technical and / or administrative issues to power electronics standards.
- Set up and operate standard test equipment including but not limited to : Temperature / Humidity Chambers; Programmable Power Supplies; PLC or other controllers; pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric actuators; AC / DC power supplies and loads; oscilloscope; multi-meter; dielectric strength tester; ground continuity tester; surge generator; environmental condition chamber; and articulated probes. Build / calibrate test fixtures using hand tools.
- Perform testing of products in accordance with standards; core tests may include Battery Cycling (Charge / Discharge), Temperature / Humidity soak or cycle, durability cycling, Voltage and Current measurement, dielectric, pressure, abnormal and fault condition simulation, rain, dust, corrosion.
- Compile test results during construction review and testing; prepare final report using established report shell and submit for reviewer approval.
- Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
- Mentor less senior technical personnel.
- Provide information for quotes such as project length, site needs, rental equipment, samples, and standards to be used.
- Follow sample handling procedures, logging samples in / out and packaging for shipment.
- Provide sales support such as attending client visits and ongoing client support as needed.
- Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with focus on electrical circuits, renewable energy.5+ years' experience in a directly related field.Experience using Microsoft Office products.Adherence to safety practices and policies to ensure safety of self and others.Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.Detail-oriented with effective time management and workload prioritization.Strong communication skills in verbal and written formats.Customer focused and quality driven.Ability to travel as business needs dictate, 25% - 50%.Valid driver's license and reliable driving record.Applicants must complete an I-9 to verify eligibility to work in the U.S. and reside in the United States.Preferred Qualifications
Prior project management experience.Direct experience in the renewable energy field.Direct knowledge of US, Canadian and other international product safety standards such as UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1741, UL 3141, UL 1973, UL 1703, PV Trackers - UL 3703 (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC).Intertek is a drug-free workplace.
