TITLE : Middle School Generalized Instructional Paraprofessional
SUMMARY :
A generalized Instructional Paraprofessional involves supporting teacher and students by assisting with classroom instruction, supervising students, providing clerical duties and other duties as assigned. Key responsibilities can include working with students individually or in small groups, implementing student behavior plans, assisting with administrative tasks, acting as a substitute teacher, instructing, grading, and attending teacher planning sessions.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
Displays a thorough knowledge of the position.
Monitors and adjusts activities to meet district and position needs.
Communicates effectively.
Maximizes time on task.
Generates a sense of enthusiasm.
Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher.
Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
Assists with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
Participates in in-service training programs, as assigned.
Checks and records student attendance or report cards.
Assists with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines.
Assists with wash-up and toilet routines.
Helps students with their clothing
Keeps bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up-to-date.
Operates and cares for equipment used in the classrooms for instructional purposes
