Commodity Buyer

US Farathane is hiring for a Commodity Buyer, this role will support our Corporate operations, this position sits on-site fully in Auburn Hills.

Summary

The Commodity Buyer is a specialized purchasing professional responsible for sourcing and acquiring raw materials, components, or services (commodities) necessary for a company's production or operations. They play a critical role in managing the company's supply chain, ensuring a consistent supply of materials at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
  • Establishes purchasing policies and ensures compliance.
  • Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.
  • Examines bids and makes awards.
  • Identifies and implements cost savings strategies for purchased product.
  • Works with supplier and A / P to establish account / credit and terms.
  • Maintains blanket purchase orders.
  • Identifies opportunities for global leverage.
  • Maintains and provides data to track and report team contribution to company results.
  • Continuously searches for market opportunities and potential new suppliers.
  • Supports plants in major supply issues within commodity.
  • Develops recommendations for long term contract and commodity strategies.
  • Monitors supplier performance.
  • Resourcing to facilitate margin improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum 5 years' applicable work experience as a Commodity Buyer in Automotive environment
