Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU role in an ambulatory surgery center, requiring critical care and both PACU and Pre-Op experience.
Responsibilities Work in an ambulatory surgery center within a hospital environment
Position involves both PACU and Pre-Op responsibilities for post-operative patients
Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 7 : 00am to 3 : 00pm, 8-hour shifts
40 hours per week expected
On-call participation is required
Care is provided for complex post-surgical patients in a Level I trauma setting
Floating may be required within similar units
Monitor post-operative patients for recovery and anesthesia side effects
Provide updates to the medical team and document vital signs and recovery progress
Administer pain, nausea, and other post-operative medications as prescribed
Maintain accurate EMR charting and patient records
Educate patients and families on post-surgical care
Two manager or supervisor references verifying recent experience are preferred
COVID and flu vaccination documentation may be required for consideration
Requirements Active DC RN license is required at the time of consideration
Current AHA certifications : BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required
Minimum two years of recent PACU and Pre-Op experience required
At least two years of ICU experience in a U.S. hospital is required
Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program
CPI certification is mandated
CPAN, TNCC, and CCRN certifications are highly desirable
BSN is highly desired
Must possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently
Candidate must reside more than 25 miles from the facility
