About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : Nursing

Shift : Day 4x12-Hour

Hours per Shift : 12

Experience : Minimum of 2 years in a Level I Academic Medical Center required.

License : Active RN License in the relevant state required.

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. EVD experience required.

Must-Have : Joint Commission stroke certified facility experience required.

Description :

20-bed unit providing intensive care to adult patients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas.

Patients do not go to recovery room post-op; they will return to the unit for recovery.

RNs should be prepared to care for up to five Med Surg patients.

EVDs are placed at the bedside, and experience with EVD is a must.

Patients with EEG leads implanted in the brain to detect seizures may be on the unit for up to three weeks.

Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN experience is required.

Drips are required on all floors.

Travelers must have two years of experience in a large, urban hospital.

All RNs must wear specified scrubs with a logo.

Facility is 100% nicotine-free.

Four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period are required.

RNs must demonstrate proficiency in various critical care skills and patient management techniques.

Daily census in the unit is approximately 18 patients.

Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, and social services.

RNs will manage a range of diagnoses including subarachnoid hemorrhage and ischemic strokes.

Travelers must provide compliance documentation in a timely manner.

All contracts must conclude on a Sunday.

RTO must be included at submission.

No RTO is allowed during the first week of engagement.
