Position Summary
City Rise Safety is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and hands-on Mechanic I (Lead Mechanic) to join our growing Bay Area team. Based out of our Fremont, CA headquarters, this role plays a critical part in ensuring our fleet of gasoline and diesel vehicles—as well as specialized traffic control equipment—remains safe, reliable, and road-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on gasoline and diesel engine vehicles
- Conduct engine tune-ups, oil changes, brake services, tire rotations and replacements, wheel balancing, and filter changes
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems and perform safety inspections (40-point / 360°)
- Respond to emergency vehicle service calls as directed
- Maintain repair and maintenance records for vehicles and equipment
Fabrication & Equipment Design
Design, fabricate, or replicate metal components and equipmentCut, grind, weld, and measure to precise specificationsBody Work & Painting
Perform basic metal bodywork, body filler application, paint preparation, and painting of panelsR&R body panelsRepair Orders & Scheduling
Prioritize and complete work orders and maintenance requests efficientlyTroubleshoot and repair mechanical issues independentlyInventory Management

High school diploma or equivalent required5 years of experience in vehicle diagnostics, repair, and maintenanceExperience Working On
Gasoline and diesel enginesLight, medium, or heavy-duty trucks and vehiclesHydraulic systems, electrical systems, suspension, brakes, and steeringExperience with fleet maintenance programs (preferred)ASE Certifications desired, but not required (Brakes & Suspension)Some welding and fabrication experience (preferred)Some bodywork, painting experience (preferred, not required)Strong diagnostics and troubleshooting abilities (OBD-II and OEM tools)Familiarity with : Engine rebuilds and tune-ups, Transmission and driveline repair, Electrical diagnostics and repair, Brake and suspension systems, AC systems, Fuel injection, turbochargers, and emissions systemsProficiency using scan tools and diagnostic softwareAbility to read and interpret schematics, repair manuals, and service bulletinsExperience with AllData and Wi Tech (Preferred)Qualifications
