Horizon Community Church - "Yours to Explore"

Calling all creative visionaries! Horizon Community Church is looking for a passionate Creative Arts Pastor to join our ministry team. You'll be the creative force helping to illuminate and amplify God's timeless message through your unique vision and skills. Our end mission is to comfortably connect people to God through the Bible and a community of growing Christ-followers, and your creativity will be key to achieving this goal.

About Horizon Community Church

"Yours to Explore" is our motto at Horizon Community Church. We offer two distinct Sunday experiences :

  • Equipping Services : Contemporary worship music (15-22 minutes) with a California Calvary Chapel vibe that enhances verse-by-verse teaching.
  • Exploring Services : Creative, unpredictable experiences featuring secular songs with Biblical themes, short videos, stories, and performance elements designed to connect with those exploring faith.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the creative right hand to our teaching team, blending their vision with our church's refined, high-class, artistic style
  • Direct Sunday services that are both engagingly educational and aesthetically sophisticated
  • Lead and inspire creative teams and volunteers to achieve excellence
  • Review and refine service plans to create a high quality, culturally relevant, and emotionally cohesive experience
  • Develop cohesive visual branding that reflects our commitment to artistic excellence

    • Creative Planning

  • Bring fresh ideas to our Ideation and Creative Execution meetings
  • Design dynamic, relevant service elements that connect with those we are called to serve
  • Create compelling graphics and video content that amplifies our message
  • Script engaging elements for services and productions
  • Use cutting-edge tools including AI to enhance creative output

    • Leadership Development

  • Initially focus on being a valuable creative voice and collaborator in planning sessions
  • Learn from experienced team members through structured mentorship opportunities
  • Gradually take on increasing responsibility as you demonstrate readiness
  • Build relationships across ministry areas to create cohesive creative direction

    • Research & Development

  • Serve as lead researcher for all teaching pastors who present from stage
  • Find and adapt worship / secular songs that align with our themes
  • Stay abreast of creative trends in worship, design, and technology
  • Explore new digital platforms and interactive tools to engage our community

You're a creative professional with excellent skills who values the opportunity to grow into greater leadership over time. You're digitally fluent, adaptable, and excited about using technology to create meaningful worship experiences that connect people to God and His community.

  • Strong portfolio showing your creative capabilities (formal experience less important than talent)
  • Proficiency in graphic design and video production
  • Working knowledge of audio / visual systems and production elements
  • Digital native with ability to leverage new technologies and AI tools
  • Comfort with creative software and willingness to learn new platforms
