1099 Contractor Job Summary Conceras is seeking experienced Fiber Installation Technicians to support the deployment, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cabling systems at U.S. diplomatic facilities worldwide.Assignments range from 2 to 6 weeks, with opportunities for consecutive deployments based on performance and mission needs.Candidates must hold an active Top Secret clearance (or Secret with TS eligibility) and a valid U.S. passport.Strong knowledge of fiber optic systems, structured cabling standards, fusion splicing, field testing, grounding, and telecommunications safety is essential.Key Responsibilities Install, terminate, splice, and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.Perform fusion splicing using Sumitomo equipment with splice loss less than 0.3 dB.Conduct OTDR, OLTS, and VFL testing for certification and troubleshooting.Handle and clean fiber connectors (LC, SC, ST, MPO) using industry best practices.Distinguish and work with different fiber types (OM2, OM3, OS2) and jacket ratings (OFNP / OFNR).Install conduits, fiber trays, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and Work Area Outlets (WAOs).Ensure compliance with TIA / EIA 568, 455, and BICSI standards.Route fiber cables while maintaining proper bend radius, avoiding EMI / power interference, and ensuring proper cable support.Apply telecom bonding and grounding practices (TGB, TMGB, RGB).
Conduct confined space entry and safety procedures when working in manholes and pathways.Operate under strict security protocols in U.S.Government overseas facilities with minimal supervision.Requirements Active Top Secret Clearance (or Secret with eligibility for TS upgrade) Valid U.S.Passport and readiness for OCONUS deployments Minimum 3+ years of fiber installation and splicing experience (5+ years for senior roles) Demonstrated expertise with fiber optic systems, structured cabling, and telecom grounding Ability to work in mission-critical, high-security environments Preferred Qualifications BICSI Installer Certification (highly valued) Prior experience supporting Department of State or other U.S.Government infrastructure projects RCDD Certification (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) Powered by JazzHR
