Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Albany, Georgia.

Position : RN – Cardiology Stepdown Unit

Location : Albany, GA (Must live 75+ miles from facility – verified by driver’s license)

Shift : 12H Days (06 : 45 AM – 07 : 15 PM)

Contract Length : 13 weeks (36 hrs / week guaranteed)

Requirements

  • Experience : Minimum 2 years Stepdown experience in acute care (strict requirement).
  • Certifications : BLS, ACLS required; NIHSS preferred.
  • License : Active RN license

    • Unit Details

  • Unit : Cardiology – 4A / 4B Stepdown
  • Beds : 44 total (8 semi-private rooms = 16 beds)
  • Ratios : 1 : 5 (with nurse aides 1 : 10)
  • Charge Nurse : On unit (Clinical Supervisor)
  • Common Diagnoses / Patients :

    • Post-op cardiovascular surgeries (CABG, fem-pops, arteriograms, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, VATS, EVAR, AAA repairs)

  • Stents, pacemakers, ablations, AICD
  • CHF, afib w / RVR, cardioversions, chest tubes, POD #1 CABG with pacer wires
  • Drips : Cardizem (titrated), amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine (renal dose), lasix, bumex, heparin, primicor, vaprosol
  • Respiratory Support : BiPap, CPAP (sleep only), Vapotherm, high flow O₂ (no full vents)
  • Floating : To ICU – Stepdown patients only unless ICU-experienced (must be noted in contract)
  • EMR : Meditech 6.1

    • Additional Notes

  • Fast turnover : Average census 32–38 pts; 12–16 admits / discharges on busy days.
  • Preferred : Ability to pull pacer wires (orientation provided if not experienced).
  • Support :

    • Hospitalist / Intensivist in-house 24 / 7

  • RT & Pharmacy 24 / 7
  • PICC / IV Team available
  • Dress Code : Caribbean Blue scrubs; no facial piercings, visible tattoos, fake nails / shellac, or unnatural hair colors.

    • Scheduling

  • Weekend : Every other weekend required.
  • Holidays : Must be flexible.
