Assistant Design Manager – Devon

Are you looking to take the next step in your career and move into design management? We’re working with a leading main contractor who is seeking an Assistant Design Manager to join their Southwest team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with design coordination or technical experience who is ready to progress into a management role.

The Role

As an Assistant Design Manager, you’ll support senior managers in coordinating and overseeing the design process on projects ranging from £10m to £100m. Working across sectors such as Education, Leisure, Transport, Commercial, Residential, and Public Sector facilities, you’ll gain exposure to complex, high-value projects and develop the skills to become a future Design Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with managing the design process to ensure outputs meet project goals, specifications, and budgets.

Support in the appointment and coordination of consultants.

Help develop and monitor design programmes to align with project milestones.

Attend and contribute to design team meetings, following up on action points.

Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Work with the team to deliver cost-effective and innovative design solutions.

About You

We’re looking for someone ambitious, collaborative, and eager to learn.

You’ll ideally have :

Experience in a design, technical, or coordination role within construction.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

A good understanding of building regulations and design processes.

Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.

A proactive attitude and willingness to take on responsibility.

Relevant driving licence
