Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting technical drawings :

Understanding blueprints, sketches, and machining instructions to ensure parts meet specifications.

Selecting, mounting, and positioning tools, adjusting machine controls, and loading workpieces onto grinding machines.

Activating and tending to grinding, lapping, honing, polishing, and deburring machines to remove material, sharpen edges, or create specific finishes.

Inspecting finished parts for defects or irregularities and verifying dimensions using tools like micrometers and calipers.

Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the work area and following lockout / tagout procedures to ensure safety.

Dressing wheels to a specific profile using fixtures and tools, especially for specialized grinding tasks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

A basic understanding of mechanical principles and the ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.

Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers for precise dimensional checks.

The ability to interpret mechanical and technical drawings and specifications.

A strong focus on quality and precision to ensure parts meet stringent standards.

The ability to perform calculations for measurements and machine settings.

The ability to lift and manipulate materials, sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

Often requires some on-the-job training or completion of vocational programs, with experience in a shop environment being a plus.
