Bucket Operator - Chesapeake, VA
The Bucket Operator operates heavy equipment of various types to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines. Essential functions include following and enforcing safe practices, assisting in preparing equipment and materials, operating equipment as directed, maintaining and repairing equipment, assisting other crew members, cleaning up debris, setting up barriers, staying informed on new equipment, tracking and reporting mileage, and performing duties for storm work as needed. Supervisory responsibilities include no direct reports. Experience requirements include prior heavy equipment operating experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries. Education requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of equipment maintenance, physical strength, good balance, ability to work outdoors, hearing verbal instructions, first-aid certification, wearing PPE, good vision, driving license, CDL, and DOT medical card, reading and comprehending written and verbal instructions, maintaining balance, communication, endurance, and travel for storm restoration work.
