Stroke experience

Description :

The position is in the Neuro ICU.

The patient ratio is 1 : 2, and float to ICU and Med Surg is required.

Staff must work every other weekend.

ACLS and BLS certifications are required.

Experience in ICU is crucial, with a strong emphasis on neuro care.

The unit handles a variety of complex cases including craniotomy and tumor resection.

Additional responsibilities include care of ventilated patients and management of arterial lines.

Staffing involves interdisciplinary support from various teams.

Potential patient diagnoses include stroke and spinal cord injuries.

Special procedures include EVD placement and ICP monitoring.

Floating to different areas may be necessary as part of the role.

Essential skills include blood product administration and phlebotomy.

Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions is also critical.
