Job Description :
- Performs & supervises service, maintenance, repair, and overhaul in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations;
- Ensures that safety is the highest priority in the workplace;
- Performs & supervises equipment repairs in response to maintenance requests, in shop or field locations;
- Repairs heavy equipment, removing / replacing components;
- Uses diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct equipment faults;
- Performs & supervises mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, & electronic analyses & diagnoses;
- Knowledge of DOT / FMCSA regulations;
- Display a positive attitude, with the ability to inspire motivation and confidence;
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel;
- Analytical problem solver with attention to detail;
- High School Diploma (or equivalent);
- Maintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems of heavy equipment & vehicles used by the Company to ensure ability to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions;
- Develop a strong relationship with Independent Contractors & vendors within the assigned fleet;
- Ensure external fleet appearance is maintained to company standards;
- Monitor fuel usage, order fuel & oil / lubricants to adequately supply crews, vehicles & machinery company-wide;
- Enforce company policies governing appropriate use of fleet vehicles;
- Accountable for maintenance of all relevant documentation required to meet and / or exceed local, state, federal, company, & customer requirements;
- Minimum 10 years prior experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic;
- Minimum 10 years prior experience as a Diesel Mechanic;
- Minimum 5 years prior experience as a Heavy Truck / Trailer Fleet mechanic, maintenance and current with DOT rules and regulations;
- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or management position required;
- Operates shop equipment including cranes, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, heavy hand tools, & tire servicing equipment;
- Lifts, moves & / or installs heavy parts and assemblies safely, using basic tooling & PPE;
- Assists & provides guidance to other mechanics & members of the team as required;
- Candidates must be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 90 days of employment;
- Oversees Fleet Maintenance operations and repair shop, including work order planning and scheduling, fabricating / welding, parts room, fuel supply, batteries both on site & shop locations;
- Establish and maintain an appropriate spare parts inventory for the fleet maintenance & other mechanical;
- Ensure that all spare parts are tracked, reported, & stored with a high degree of accountability & integrity;
- Analyze vehicle status and cost upkeep, provide recommendations on vehicle disposal and replacement.
Expected Range : $40 - $60 per hour DOE, 50% paid health insurance, optical, dental, paid vacation, 401K, Bonus.
