We're seeking a dynamic career development professional to support master's and doctoral students in the College of Science as they explore possibilities and take the next steps toward meaningful careers. From one-on-one advising to program development, this role ensures that every graduate student is actively engaged in their professional growth.
What You'll Do
- Provide individual and group advising sessions focused on career discernment, job / internship search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and interview techniques.
- Support students across a wide variety of career paths.
Program Development & Support
Create innovative and tailored programs for College of Science graduate students.Lead workshops, host guest speakers, organize networking opportunities, and prepare students for career fairs and other key events.Resource Creation & Refinement
Research, design, and implement best-in-class resources to help students take ownership of their career development.Collaborate with CCD colleagues, employers, and alumni to ensure resources reflect evolving industry trends.Strategic Partnerships & Engagement
Build strong collaborations with faculty, administrators, and campus partners in the College of Science.Ensure students are connected to the most relevant and effective career development opportunities available.Support of Centralized Efforts
Participate in CCD-wide career counseling meetings, events, and large-scale programming such as career fairs.Provide coverage for drop-in and exploding offer appointments as assigned.Take on other projects and responsibilities that advance the CCD, the University, and the success of Notre Dame students.Education Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in any field (preferably in a science-related discipline, but not required) (advanced degree preferred if no industry experience)Previous professional / highered experience with a preference of 3-4 yearsKnowledge of the functions of higher education career servicesKnowledge of career development principlesKnowledge of science-related careers, including the pursuit of science-related advanced degreesCompetence in providing advice and guidance to students for careers in academia, as well as industryExperience with career advising of college studentsDemonstrated excellent communication skills - both written and verbalAbility to present information in compelling ways, both in-person and virtuallyAbility to learn technology quicklyDemonstrated proficiency in building relationshipsAbility to think organizationally, conceptually, and strategicallyAbility to manage projects and relationships simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlinesServe as a team player with a positive attitude across multiple departments with distinct responsibilitiesAbility to seamlessly pivot from demanding one-on-one work with students to teamwork with your peers on graduate school projectsAbility to proactively reach out to and build your portfolio of studentsSalary : Up to $60,000
