Convention Center Event Services Crew Leader

Salary : 16.536 - 20.67

Under general supervision, performs and oversees a crew involving equipment handling, maintenance, and cleaning of the convention center.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Ability to oversee the Event Services and custodial staff including temporary workers ensuring that equipment handling, maintenance and custodial work is performed appropriately and where needed provide guidance and / or training.
  • Ability to interpret event work orders and set-up and tear down room arrangements according to instructions provided by promoters and event coordinators.
  • Ability to clean facility before, during and after events and to provide assistance to event promoters during move-ins and move-outs.
  • Ability to make minor maintenance repairs such as painting and repairing minor wall damage, carpet snags, chipped tile, etc., to ensure Center is well maintained.

Other Job Functions :

  • Ability to maintain and upkeep interior / exterior plants, foliage, shrubbery, and lawn by watering and fertilizing as necessary to maintain an attractive appearance to the Center.
  • Ability to train new Event Services / Custodial workers in the Center / City policies.
  • Ability to operate a forklift for in-house services and special event requests.
  • Ability to perform related duties as required or directed.
  • Ability to ensure barricades are placed in the appropriate places during special events and Ranger games to assist in proper parking / traffic utilization.
  • Ability to analyze event work orders and develop weekly schedules.
  • Ability to maintain and track warehouse inventory.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

    Knowledge of methods, materials and tools in general building / ground maintenance work. Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in cleaning operations. Skill in using chemicals / cleaning supplies and respective quantities to use. Ability to read label on cleaning products. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound. Ability to work in fast paced environment to meet rigorous deadlines. Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited to seeing, cleaning, pushing and climbing to and from extreme heights. Ability to operate a motorized vehicle. Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 pounds; and push / pull 100 lbs. for 25 feet. Ability to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to forklift, sweeper scrubber, and hand radio. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, and general public. Ability to work irregular hours, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is subject to fume / odor, dust / mites, chemical, mechanical, electrical, explosives, radiation and toxic waste hazards.

    Qualifying Education and Experience :

    Completion of High School. Two years of experience in building maintenance / custodial duties. Valid Texas Driver License, Class C.
