Responsibilities Work in a hospital acute care setting on the Surgical Acute Med / Surg unit Care for post-op surgical, trauma, medical overflow, and observation patients Unit has 63 beds (49 private, 9 observation), nurse : patient ratios are 4-5 : 1 days and 5-6 : 1 nights Utilizes the Epic EMR, with orientation provided Some patients require telemetry monitoring on Phillips equipment; central monitoring techs handle strip reading Shifts are three 12-hour nights (1900-0700), with every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage Floating required, primarily to units of similar acuity, with travelers prioritized to float first Block scheduling may be considered and must be approved at time of contract Responsibilities include post-op care, dressing changes, wound care, administering IV therapy and TPN, and managing pain, drains, NGs, and central lines Charge nurses are present on every shift and do not take assignments; house supervisors are available 24 / 7 Unit supported by patient care techs (PCTs) for vitals, ADLs, turning, and ambulation Nurses may initiate CPAP; RT manages other respiratory therapies Two shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor are provided, along with an additional Epic / professional orientation Scrub color is flexible; any color scrubs may be worn Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible for local rates; no radius rule in effect COVID vaccination is not required for employment Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Minimum of 1 year recent Med / Surg nursing experience Current BLS certification from AHA required Experience in post-op care, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, and managing drains, NGs, central lines, and TPN Strong critical thinking, good bedside manner, and ability to work collaboratively as a team player Must be able to pass a multi-panel drug screen in accordance with a drug-free campus policy Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-625609.
