Accounting Supervisor
The Accounting Supervisor will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing accounting operations across three sites, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This position requires a strategic and detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in accounting principles and proven leadership capabilities. The supervisor will guide a team of accountants in daily activities, oversee the preparation of financial statements, and manage month-end and year-end closing processes. This role also involves evaluating and enhancing accounting processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and supporting budget preparation and forecasting. The role directly manages four team members and is responsible for overseeing daily activities, providing direction, support, and professional development opportunities.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities :
- Supervises and leads the accounting team across three locations, providing guidance and support in daily accounting activities.
- Manages the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses to provide insight into each site's financial performance.
- Oversees the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Monitors adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements within the accounting processes.
- Evaluates accounting processes and systems, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and financial reporting requirements.
- Collaborates with internal and external auditors during financial audits to ensure compliance and resolve discrepancies.
- Implements policies and procedures to ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
- Provides training and development opportunities for the accounting team to promote growth and enhance skills.
- Analyzes budget variances and assists in budget preparation and forecasting as needed.
- Maintains relationships with external stakeholders.
Required Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and other relevant regulatory standards.Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with team members and stakeholders.Ability to travel to different company sites and external conferences or training sessions.Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.Preferred Additional Qualifications :
Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.CPA or CMA certification.Experience with multi-site accounting operations.Familiarity with ERP systems and their implementation.Experience in SAP and OneStream a plus.Proven track record of process improvement initiatives in an accounting environment.
