Automation Engineering Technician, 2nd & 3rd Shifts
Join Cadence, Inc. as an Automation Engineering Technician. We are seeking hands-on, detail-oriented technicians with a strong background in automation and grinding processes to support a high-volume, integrated manufacturing cell that includes 24 / 7 operations within a cleanroom environment.
Position Summary
This role is critical to maintaining uptime, improving process efficiency, and supporting operator effectiveness in a dynamic custom manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair automated and semi-automated equipment within high-volume manufacturing cells.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems to support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, working with engineers and operators to optimize cycle time, improve equipment reliability, and enhance product quality.
- Train operators and maintenance personnel on proper equipment usage, minor troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Monitor and document equipment performance, making data-driven recommendations to improve machine reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assist with the installation, startup, and validation of new or modified custom automation systems.
- Provide technical support for grinding operations, including setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting of CNC or manual grinding machines.
- Adhere to cleanroom protocols and ensure compliance with environmental and quality standards during maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and quality teams to support production goals and resolve manufacturing issues.
Qualifications
Associate degree or technical diploma in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).3+ years of hands-on experience in an automated manufacturing environment, preferably with custom-built or integrated automation systems.Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems, sensors, actuators, and HMI interfaces.Solid understanding of mechanical systems, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques.Experience with grinding processes (manual or CNC) strongly preferred.ISO 13485 / medical device experiencePrevious experience working in or supporting cleanroom manufacturing operations is highly desirable.Proficient with hand tools, measurement instruments, and diagnostic tools.Strong communication skills with the ability to train others and work independently or as part of a team.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.Willingness to work flexible hours or support off-shifts as needed during troubleshooting or equipment launch phases.What We Offer
