Traffic Control Technician

The City of Des Moines is seeking a Traffic Control Technician. This position is in the Engineering department, Division of Sign, St. Painting & Lighting. The salary range is $29.48 - $35.25 hourly. The job is a regular full-time position located in Des Moines, IA.

The selection method includes a performance examination, a written examination, and a review of driving records. Applicants must possess a Class C driver's license and meet the City's driving standards. If you have an out-of-state driver's license, you must submit your certified driving record by the application deadline. The essential work includes installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic control signs, street name signs, informational and warning signs; fabricating sign brackets and special equipment; laying out and applying pavement markings; installing, maintaining, and repairing parking meters; collecting and delivering revenue from meters; attending appropriate training sessions; and operating various equipment including forklifts, trucks, compressors, paint spray equipment, hand and power tools, drills, augers, and welders.
