Job Responsibilities

PURPOSE : The

primary function of a Paint Technician is to provide process

documentation, process support and routine maintenance on both

powder and liquid paint systems as well as wash systems. This

includes creating and maintaining process documentation, resolving

issues that arise, driving continuous improvement, and sustaining

the system. The successful candidate will collaborate between

operations, maintenance, and other departments as needed to provide

a sustainable paint and wash processes that meets all

specifications, while driving improvements in safety, quality and

productivity.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES) :

  • Supervises and performs

maintenance and cleaning of the paint and wash systems at

predetermined intervals including wash system, paint booth,

environmental room, wastewater treatment, filter changes, and other

critical items to maintain the required performance of the systems

and product specifications.

  • Drains, refills, and
  • recharges wash, chemical, and rinse tanks on a predetermined

    schedule.

  • Recharges dosing tanks when low.
  • Perform titrations to check concentrations of chemical tanks and

    make necessary adjustments if needed.

  • Calibrate
  • conductivity, PH, and other meters at specified intervals.

  • Determine and maintain optimal wash nozzle and paint
  • gun positioning and settings.

  • Ensure climate control
  • settings (temperature, fan settings, and humidity where applicable)

    are maintained throughout the systems including but not limited to

    the wash, powder paint environmental rooms, cure ovens and cool

    down chambers.

  • Change out and manage chemicals which
  • includes making sure the containers are properly cleaned prior to

    disposal.

  • Runs paint test panels as required by
  • engineering for quality and reliability testing.

    Perform oven profiling periodically as specified by engineering.

  • Manage start up and shut down of the systems.
  • Maintain and create process instructions for painting
  • and washing parts such as loading and unloading parts, paint color

    changes, system operation and maintenance, and any other pertinent

    documentation.

  • Monitor waste water treatment system.
  • Other assignments as assigned by the manager.
  • Job Requirements

    BASIC REQUIREMENTS :

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with
  • wash systems, powder paint, and liquid paint systems or 7 years of

    experience in related field with high school diploma or GED.

  • Able to troubleshoot and solve manufacturing problems.
  • Attention to detail when needed.

  • Excellent ability and
  • experience reading and calibrating gages and meters.

    Experience working with chemicals, measuring, and mixing them to

    achieve the initial desired concentrations and to maintain

    concentrations.

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding
  • of wash and paint systems with demonstrated performance in the job

    of maintaining and sustaining them. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Very good organizational skills as well as written and
  • oral communication skills.

  • Ability to handle a variety
  • of assignments and changing priorities.

  • Good computer
  • skills with ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel, Word, and

    Power Point.

  • Ability to work effectively and
  • efficiently independently, cross functionally, or part of a team.

  • Excellent safety / quality mindset.
  • Ability
  • to be effective working with shop floor employees and to adjust

    work schedules at times if needed.

  • Able to perform
  • hands on work as required.

  • Able to gather and analyze
  • data to make good fact based decisions.
