Mechanical Engineer (Railway)

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities :

• Conduct field investigations and perform failure / accident analysis on incidents including train derailments, pedestrian strikes and vehicular impacts at railroad / highway grade crossings
• Evaluate rolling stock component related failures
• Investigate design, safety and failure of machinery and mechanical systems
• Perform calculations, engineering analysis, computer analyses and simulations and technical reporting
• Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
• Regular and predictable physical presence in the office
• Long term goal to become testifying expert
• Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
• Regular and predictable presence at work
