MNRK Music Group is looking for a Paralegal & Copyright Specialist to join our team in Nashville. As the Paralegal & Copyright Specialist you will provide essential administrative support to the Business & Legal Affairs department, facilitating smooth operations and safeguarding the legal and financial interests of the company and its artists.
What You Will Be Doing :
- Managing copyright registration processes for new releases and catalog titles by entering timely and accurate details into internal databases and to the US Copyright Office.
- Supporting the resolution of rights disputes and inquiries, including addressing neighboring rights and takedown requests / DMCA complaints on digital service providers.
- Assisting to draft and review a variety of music industry agreements, including recording, publishing, licensing, and artist contracts, under the direction of counsel.
- Tracking and managing contract deadlines, obligations, deliverables, advance triggering events, and recoupment positions within legal databases and internal platforms.
- Preparing and circulating comprehensive deal summaries to relevant teams.
- Serving as the go-to person to receive, assess, and respond to Business & Legal Affairs inquiries, directing matters to appropriate counsel as needed.
- Serving as a central point of coordination for the Business Affairs team and Maintaining and organizing electronic and physical files and updating systems.
- Liaising with various internal departments (e.g., A&R, Copyright, Finance, Production, Royalties) to ensure smooth operations and proper administration of contracts and related deliverables.
- Assisting with music clearance processes and cue sheet administration.
- Stay informed about music industry legal trends and provide updates to the team as needed.
Required skills and qualifications
Paralegal Certificate (CP) or bachelor’s degree in music business, business administration, or a related field, with an interest in copyright and intellectual property law, or equivalent experience.A minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative, business affairs, or licensing role within the music or entertainment industry or at an entertainment law firm strongly preferred.Strong understanding of music licensing, contracts, and intellectual property rights.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.Familiarity with contract management systems (e.g., ContractSafe), cloud-based document platforms, and databases (e.g., DocuSign, SharePoint) a plus.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to interact professionally and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.Proactive, adaptable, able to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.This is a hybrid role that will require you to commute to our Nashville office a minimum of three days a week.
