Overview
Lead Quality Engineer role at GE Aerospace. GE Aerospace is a world-leading provider of jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial and military aircraft. This position focuses on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) across electric power systems for aviation applications.
As a Lead Quality Engineer, you will lead quality initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations. This role requires a strong commitment to Safety and Quality, as well as expertise in quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, and lean principles.
Location : Vandalia facility (near Dayton, OH). The facility is described with its historical and operational context and size in the original description.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of quality systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary quality interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to address quality concerns and drive resolution.
- Lead cross-functional teams in identifying root causes of quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, DMAIC).
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues and improve product reliability.
- Drive process improvements using lean methodologies, including Kaizen events and Standard Work.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to optimize processes and reduce variability.
- Monitor and report key quality metrics, including defect rates, first-pass yield, and customer satisfaction.
- Partner with the supply chain team to ensure supplier quality performance meets GE Aerospace standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field from an accredited college or university (or High School Diploma / GED with 8 years of equivalent work experience)Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing qualityAdditional Information
