SCOPE :
Trust and Wealth Management Tax Support is responsible for assisting the Trust and Wealth Management Department Tax Team with tasks and projects related to tax reporting and processing. The person filling this role will return each September-May.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Tax Reporting and Processing
Monthly review of transactions and information for various account types, and correction as neededAssist with monthly review and correction of IRA transactions, including review of accounts for filing requirements and collection of beneficiary informationAssist with year-end reporting for IRA accounts (1099-R and 5498)Monthly review of MLP transactions and activity, and coordination of YE reportingAssist with monthly tax withholding reconciliationsMaintenance of tax filesGenerate reports from the trust accounting system (SWP) for accounts recently opened or closed. Review reports for key information related to tax reporting, as directedManage tracking and documentation of IRS and State tax authority correspondence. Coordinate with Tax Team on collection of information and response as appropriateYear-end review of Municipal Bond informationAssist with preparation of information and delivery to tax preparersPrepare year-end Capital Gain / Loss Excel spreadsheetsPrepare year-end Holdings reports for charitable trustsPrepare Rental and Farm activity workpapersMaintain fiduciary tax tracking log to ensure completeness of filings and payments. Update tax-related comment fields on trust accounting system (SWP) with notes from tracking logMonitor and review 65-day distribution transactions. Maintain listing and update preparers as transactions are completedFiduciary tax return processing, to include obtaining signatures on documents, electronic delivery of official documents to customers and / or internal staff, tracking progress of accounts throughout the entire tax filing process, and providing Tax Team with information and progress updatesCompile information and prepare necessary schedules and worksheets for use in posting tax / balance due electronic payments by required payment datesCommunicate with tax preparers and Trust and Wealth Management staff via email, queries, and secure websitesSave documents to electronic storageOther

High school diploma or equivalent requiredRelevant College / University business courseworkThis job requires skills needed in a typical office environment. This includes computer skills, as well as utilization of office equipment.
