Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Location : Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois healthcare jobs) Unit : Cardiac Stepdown Unit Assignment Duration : 13-week travel contract (October 27, 2025 – January 24, 2026) Shift : 12-hour day shifts (7 : 00 AM – 7 : 30 PM) Hours per Week : 36 guaranteed Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2040 - $2100 Employment Type : Locum tenens / Travel RN Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Illinois RN license in good standing BLS certification (American Heart Association) required Minimum 1 year of recent cardiac stepdown or progressive care nursing experience Experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility and proficiency with EPIC EMR required Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and independent judgment skills Excellent communication and multicultural sensitivity Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browser) Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients using the nursing process Perform all duties required by the cardiac stepdown unit within the scope of clinical practice Implement and modify individualized care plans based on ongoing patient assessment Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EPIC EMR) Complete initial assessments and develop patient-centered care plans Assess IV sites every 4 hours and initiate IVs according to hospital policy Monitor and identify changes in patient status, responding promptly and appropriately Promote patient and staff safety by reporting and addressing hazards Participate in staff meetings, training, and departmental competencies Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and provide constructive feedback Join our healthcare team in Urbana, Illinois, and make a difference in cardiac patient care.
