RAMC is looking for a Registered Polysomnographic Tech to join our team. This position is Per Diem.
Position Summary :
A Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. The technologist will be able to perform 16 channel polysomnography and associated patient care and education. This includes, but is not limited to : applying electrodes and sensors, calibrations of equipment, ensuring quality data collection and diagnostic procedures. The technologist must also provide accurate scoring, documentation and implement a variety of PAP therapies. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide supervision of other staff.
Education and Training Required :
Successful completion of a polysomnography program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography, orSuccessful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state-licensed and / or nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency at all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technician.
Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or equivalent.
Physical Requirements :
Occasionally stand must be able to access computer hardware and video equipment located 3-6 feet off the ground.
Occasionally walk between the control area and patient room(s); must be able to move quickly from the control room to the patient room in case of an emergency.
Frequently sit to observe sleeping patients.
Frequently lift 10 pounds or less for records and / or supplies.
Occasionally lift, carry, push, and / or pull up to 25 pounds while assisting patients to the restroom or retrieving and repositioning equipment.
Occasionally climb stairs between the admission / ER and Sleep Medicine.
Occasionally balance and reach over patients to attach and adjust monitoring equipment.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend at the waist and knees to adjust recording equipment and assist patients from chairs or beds; good range of motion is needed to visualize various physiological monitors. Bending downward and forward is required to install patient monitoring sensors and make various adjustments to equipment and sensors.
Occasionally reach and handle / extend hands and arms to adjust audiovisual equipment and physiological monitors. Must be able to grasp and place equipment, rotate adjustment knobs, and manipulate small objects.
