Associate Attorney

Overview

Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC, a litigation boutique of 200 employees, has an opportunity for an associate attorney in the firm's Madison, WI or Green Bay, WI offices. The role offers hands-on experience by working on an entire case to develop a comprehensive understanding of legal proceedings and defense theory. Knowledge of civil litigation is preferred. Candidates must be licensed in Wisconsin, or eligible for admission, with excellent written and oral communication skills and strong advocacy abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage file throughout litigation process independently and as part of a team.
• Conduct fact investigations.
• Work directly with clients, insureds, and expert witnesses.
• Travel to accident sites for incident investigations.
• Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
• Prepare witnesses for deposition.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions.
• Review and analyze policies, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Court hearing preparation and attendance, including preparation for oral arguments of motions.
• Trial preparation and attendance, including trial team support with direct and cross-examination of witnesses.
