Our organization is a leading behavioral health provider dedicated to supporting children and adolescents across Pennsylvania and Ohio. We deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based care through a combination of residential, outpatient, and community-based programs designed to help youth overcome emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges. With a reputation for excellence in care and outcomes, we operate multiple treatment centers that focus on safety, stability, and long-term success for the individuals and families we serve. Our teams include licensed clinicians, behavioral health professionals, and direct care staff who bring compassion and expertise to every program.

We are seeking an accomplished Head Of Residential Programs to oversee the operational, strategic, and financial performance of our residential treatment centers. This is a senior leadership position for a results-driven professional who combines strong business acumen with a deep understanding of behavioral health operations. The ideal candidate will not necessarily come from a clinical background but will have extensive experience managing large-scale programs, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance in complex healthcare or human services settings.

The Head Of Residential will lead all aspects of daily operations for our residential programs, ensuring they meet clinical, regulatory, and fiscal goals while maintaining the highest standards of care. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable spending time at multiple sites across Pennsylvania and Ohio, developing teams, and driving measurable improvement across all facets of service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight for all residential treatment programs, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve program performance, streamline processes, and enhance quality of care.
  • Partner closely with clinical and administrative leadership to balance program excellence with sound financial management.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking for residential operations, ensuring programs meet or exceed financial and operational targets.
  • Ensure all facilities adhere to state licensing requirements and accreditation standards, maintaining readiness for audits and inspections.
  • Cultivate a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement among program directors and staff.
  • Oversee staffing models, scheduling, and workflow processes to ensure appropriate coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze key metrics and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Serve as the executive liaison between leadership and site-level management, ensuring consistent communication and execution of organizational priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, referral sources, and community partners.
  • Develop leadership pipelines within the residential programs and mentor management teams for future growth.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and Compliance to align systems and processes that support scalable operations.
  • Travel regularly between residential program sites across Pennsylvania and Ohio to maintain a direct pulse on performance and culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within behavioral health, healthcare, or human services.
  • Proven experience managing multi-site operations and large teams.
  • Strong understanding of residential or inpatient program structures, regulatory frameworks, and funding models.
  • Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency, quality outcomes, and financial performance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently between program sites in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on management style and a deep respect for mission-driven work.
  • Compensation

Annual base salary of $175,000 $200,000, plus performance-based bonuses and a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

This is an opportunity to lead from the frontdriving operational excellence and growth for a respected behavioral health organization committed to transforming the lives of children and families every day.
