Overview
TowerMRL and Advanced Tower Services have immediate openings for Telecommunication Tower Field Welder - Level 1 at entry level, with opportunities for professional and personal growth while traveling throughout the US. Position does require location to our Cottage Grove, WI or Albuquerque, NM location within 60 to 120 days of employment.
Telecommunication Tower Field Welder - Level 1 will learn and be trained to perform a wide variety of field-specific job duties. We travel throughout the US; the travel is extensive, with scheduling for 2-3 weeks in the field at a time. Time off is backlogged after each deployment. Employees seeking greater pay have the option for longer assignments. All welders must perform welding while in a fall protection harness, in rain, wind, extreme heat, and extreme cold. Welding is not performed under ideal conditions. Welding "out of position" requires welders to complete welds with both hands and with items blocking vision. A WELDER MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO CLIMB TO HEIGHTS OF 500\' TO COMPLETE WELDING TASKS. A welder must be able to lift more than 50 lbs and travel extensively out of state for extended periods, including overnight and weekends. TowerMRL provides training and certifications, base pay (including travel time), individual hotel rooms, and per diem for overnight work days. All new employees undergo full tower and rescue training prior to first deployment. Field Welders have opportunities for extensive overtime and room for advancement. A typical work week may be 5 days on with weekends off or 10 days on with 4 days off.

Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of field-specific job duties as a Telecommunication Tower Field Welder - Level 1.
- Weld structural members with consistent quality and safe work practices by understanding and following layouts, blueprints, and work orders using flux core wire feed welders.
- Weld using Flux Core .045 and 5 / 64 from a suitcase-type feeder and pass certification testing for horizontal and vertical welds; weld using 7018 & 8018 low hydrogen stick welders and pass certification testing for horizontal and vertical welds.
- Identify different types and preparation of materials used in structural welding; identify and use various welding tools, wires, and machines.
- Troubleshoot by understanding blueprints, identify issues, and take corrective actions; perform initial QA / QC checks on finished work to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Conduct on-site inspections / investigations, including survey and documentation of existing conditions, field testing, photography, and sketching; organize field data.
- Perform telecommunication tower inspections, including climbing towers in excess of 500 ft; perform general repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and re-fabrication to towers and other structures as directed.
- Adhere to all Federal, State, and Local driving requirements and company policies; maintain company vehicle in a clean and presentable condition.
- Travel extensively (2-3 weeks in the field at a time; roughly 95% travel out of state, including weekends) and coordinate with field and management personnel.
Qualifications / Requirements
Minimum of three years of experience in structural welding.Must pass FCAW and SMAW certification tests for structural welders (3 / 8" bevelled plate with backing strip, horizontal, vertical, and overhead).Proficient in the use of cutting torch, plasma arc, and cutting machines.Ability to work in extremely cold temperatures (-25 degrees Fahrenheit).Prior experience working off lifts or staging.Ability to travel extensively out of state and for extended periods (including weekends and overnight).Valid driver's license; high school diploma required (some college experience preferred).Ability to climb towers in excess of 500 feet and lift 50+ lbs; comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather.Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints; ability to obtain applicable tower climbing certifications.Benefits & Compensation
