Department Leader, Systems Engineering Radar Systems

The Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities team is seeking a Department Leader within the Surface Radars & Sensors (SR&S) Center. The Department Leader for the Systems Engineering Radar Systems Department will be responsible for leading a team of roughly 150 systems engineers in support of the systems engineering scope for programs including SPY-6, Dual Band Radar, Zumwalt, and others. The Department Leader will be responsible for implementing discipline goals and initiatives, support hiring and program staffing, provide employee feedback and mentoring and be actively involved in daily program operations.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of engineers.
  • Establish meaningful and measurable goals and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Oversee the direct line management activities for the section including communication, performance impact, career development, and talent acquisition.
  • Support department and discipline level initiatives.
  • Ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Oversight of personnel issue resolution.
  • Adhere to and ensure alignment to Raytheon Technologies Values and Behaviors.
  • This role can be based out of Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.
  • Up to 10% travel domestically between Marlborough MA and Tewksbury MA. Domestic travel may also be required supporting U.S. based test sites and shipyards (Wallops Island VA, Moorestown VA, Pascagoula MS, etc).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in systems, software, and / or test.
  • Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with team leadership.
  • Experience with the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or similar budget tracking system.
  • Experience with Raytheon's Proposal Capture Process (development of Basis of Estimates, etc).
  • Experience with the Estimate at Complete (EAC) process.

  • The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education / training, and key skills. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
