Description :

This position is for a seasonal travel Registered Nurse in the Med-Surg unit.

The unit has a total of 33 rooms with a capacity for up to 49 patients, accommodating some semi-private rooms.

There are 62 staff members on the unit, ensuring adequate support for patient care.

On the day shift, the staffing includes 2 charge nurses, 2 techs, and 6-7 registered nurses.

On the night shift, the staffing consists of 1 charge nurse, 1.5 techs, and 5-6 registered nurses.

Patient ratios are 4 : 1 during the day and 5 : 1 at night.

The unit utilizes telemetry monitoring equipment and the EMR system is Meditech.

Candidates must hold a BLS certification to be considered for the role.

Preferred candidates are those who have experience working with spinal cord injury patients.

Common procedures performed on this unit include wound care, occasional bowel programs, and light burn care.

A successful candidate will thrive in a busy environment.

The unit specializes in caring for surgical flap patients and spinal cord injury patients with stage 4 wounds requiring surgical intervention.

The team collaborates with the burn unit to provide care for low-acuity burn patients.

In times of high census, some semi-private rooms may be utilized to accommodate patient needs.
