Your Role
As an Occupational Therapist (OT), you will play a vital role in helping students thrive in their educational environment. Your expertise will ensure that each student benefits from their special education program, addressing their unique needs in a supportive and engaging manner.
Key Responsibilities
In this impactful position, you will :
- Enhance manipulative skills for self-care and academic tasks through targeted interventions.
- Support school transitions and participation in educational activities by providing necessary accommodations.
- Promote functional postures to enhance comfort and engagement during lessons.
- Facilitate independence in feeding and self-care for safety and nourishment.
- Ensure safety in the school environment by minimizing injury risks.
- Improve coordination for small muscle tasks through tailored strategies.
- Assess and modify environments to enhance student mobility and access.
- Utilize adapted equipment to increase functional use of extremities.
- Engage students in sensorimotor activities to address motor planning and behavior.
- Train educational staff on body mechanics and classroom adaptations for better support.
- Promote independence through access to assistive technology.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need :
Education
A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.Current and active Illinois license to practice, with a commitment to ongoing education (24 hours per renewal cycle).Experience
Experience in evaluating students through observation, interviews, and assessments.Ability to develop and implement individualized intervention strategies.Skills and Abilities
Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, parents, and school teams.Proficiency in documenting services and evaluating student progress.Commitment to professional growth and adherence to ethical standards.Experience in supervising occupational therapy assistants as per Illinois regulations.Why Join Us?
