The Senior Director of Planning will lead strategic merchandise planning across a dynamic portfolio of accounts, categories, and licensed brands in our Sports and Entertainment Group. This role is responsible for driving pre-season and in-season planning processes to maximize margin, and support revenue growth across a complex and fast-paced business landscape. This role also carries divisional oversight responsibilities, including special projects, margin ownership, and inventory optimization, ensuring alignment with broader corporate goals and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Merchandise Planning
- Lead margin & production planning across multiple accounts / division to identify opportunities to optimize profitability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Design & Sales to del seasonal line plans at account / category level.
- Manage & monitor adherence to a Product Life-Cycle Calendar by account / season
- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to inform planning decisions.
- Consolidate post market buys for comparison to plans and identify potential shortfalls
- Lead the post-season hindsight process at the divisional and account level to identify missed opportunity and future needs
Divisional Responsibilities
Drive weekly business reviews with cross-functional teams and external partners, translating insights into actionable strategiesLead strategic initiatives by developing and executing roadmaps for new brand launches, account acquisitions, and emerging business channels, ensuring alignment with long-term growth objectives and cross-functional priorities.Build and manage financial plans, OTB, and forecasting models to achieve sales and margin goalsCreate and refine standardized reporting and processes to boost efficiency and team productivity in addition to representing the divisional needs in corporate projects.Work with sales on scenario planning by program to understand profitabilityEnsure inventory alignment in team meetings to prevent excess stock and support demand-driven buyingOur Best Fit Candidate Would Have
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related fieldMinimum 10 years of experience in merchandise planning or retail planningStrong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SAPExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Prior experience managing people a plus
