Description :
SUMMARY : Provides quality patient care under the direction of radiologist, and the clinic manager. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in all diagnostic imaging procedures. Assumes responsibility for all designated areas of procedures as required, as well as providing support in any area. Must be able to communicate with patients, radiologists, staff members, and all other internal and external customers.

Requirements : ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Modality Specific :
Properly cleans transducers after use.Knows and understands cross sectional anatomyKnows and understands physics of modality.Able to recognize pathology.General :
Performs quality control test(s) required prior to exams.Responsible for and performs diagnostic procedures requiring understanding of anatomical positioning.Selects correct technical factors on an individual basis and produces quality images.Limits and refrains from personal conversations and / or phone calls that can be overheard by patients.Performs pre-exam duties which includes verifying referring physician 's orders / diagnosis,verifying patient identification, obtaining history, documenting allergies, explainingexamination, obtaining all appropriates signed consents and preparing patient for the procedure.Performs post exam duties which includes explaining and documenting any instructions needed for follow-up of exam.Uses the appropriate personal protective equipment related to the examPractices sterile technique, preventing cross contamination.Assists Radiologist with Biopsies as scheduled.Assists with ACR accreditation.Reports any allergies reaction or injuries to the radiologist immediately and maintains adequate records on patients as needed or directed.Performs examination appropriate to protocolPrepares appropriate paperworkMaintains accurate records required by all governing bodies.Must be familiar with "CODE PROCEDURES", with the ability to respond quickly to unusual or emergency situations, and the location and use of emergency equipment.Assist patients on and off of examination tables in a safe mannerEscorts patients to proper examination areas within the center.Uses safety precautions when using any equipment, stretchers, chairs, and step stools.Provides immobilization as required.Practices sole sterilization techniques after each exam.Maintains a neat and orderly working environmentKeeps room stocked with supplies at all times.Reports any break down or equipment malfunction to management immediately.Cross trains and provides support as neededRotates within the office as requiredAccurately notes procedures performed / or billing office purposes.Does not discuss examination results / finding with the patient or patient’s family without direction, from the radiologist.Attends all staff and service meetings as required by supervisor / manager.Reports any incidents to center with a positive, professional attitude and professional appearance in all activities and communicationsEDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Education, License and Certification.Satisfactory completion of formal radiology technology training and / or ultrasound training in an accredited school.ARRT (or eligible within 6 months), and or RDMS or eligible within 6 months.State license, if applicableMaintains active status of position and license / certification by continued education requirements as set forth by the policies and procedures.5 years or more prior ultrasound experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCPR Certified Excellent Organizational skillsLANGUAGE SKILLS :
Proficient in written and verbal EnglishBilingual is a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS : Ability to assist in lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, and places them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires standing and mobility for extended periods of time. Requires correct use of body mechanics and posture.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : Possible exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
