About the Role :
We are seeking a motivated, reliable, and skilled Maintenance & Property Support Technician to join our team for the management of two multi-family communities in Topeka, KS. This hybrid role combines traditional hands-on maintenance with property management and leasing support responsibilities. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of both communities and helping to maintain high standards for resident satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is proactive, experienced in both general maintenance and customer service, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with the broader property management team. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and professionally.
If you have experience in demo, renovations, appliance installation and repair, painting, drywall work, flooring repair, and light electrical or plumbing work-and enjoy a fast-paced, hands-on environment-this position is for you.
Maintenance Duties :
- Ensure properties are clean, safe, and compliant with all applicable codes
- Respond to and resolve resident service requests promptly and professionally
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and supplies used
- Assist with vendor coordination and supervision as needed
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance, including :
HVAC system service and maintenance
Light plumbing and electrical workAppliance installation and general appliance repairPrepare vacant units for new tenants (unit turns)Light carpentry, drywall repair / installation, and interior / exterior painting
Flooring repair and replacement as neededProperty Management Support Duties :
Communicate effectively with tenants, vendors, and team members via phone, email, or in-personConduct regular property walks and inspections to ensure safety and upkeepPosting notices and communications to residentsSupport leasing staff showings as neededRequirements :
Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a residential or multi-family settingDemonstrated skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, carpentry, and drywallPrior experience or familiarity with property management duties (training available)Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to multitask, prioritize, and manage responsibilities independentlyAble to work in changing weather conditions and varying temperaturesComfortable with daily computer use and date entryReliable transportation and a valid driver's licenseMust supply and maintain personal hand toolsFunctional cell phone with active servicePreferred Qualifications :
HVAC certification and / or relevant trade certificationsExperience in construction, renovation, or residential maintenanceProficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and ExcelExperience with Rent Manager or similar property management software (a plus)High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications are a plusCompensation & Benefits :
