SUMMARY :

The Safety / Security Officer, reporting to the Health & Safety / Facilities Manager, performs an essential role for our clients and staff. The Safety / Security Officer helps maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients and staff by actively monitoring the premises, including patrolling a variety of locations, Performing Daily safety checks at all locations and identify any potential safety hazards both exterior and interior of all Facilities. They preserve order while enforcing regulations and directives for a client site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and the area. Frequently, our Safety / Security Officers will provide customer service and safety related information to all clients, employees, and customers.

REPORTING :

Reports to the Director of General Services.

SCHEDULE :

  • Mon-Fri Swing and Graveyard shift
  • Holidays / Weekend availability
  • Availability Sunday through Saturday
  • On call
  • Overtime

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Must be able to perform reporting and record-keeping related to Safety / security operations daily.

2. Follow all standard operating procedures and provide a presence that promotes the prevention of criminal activity and provides a friendly, customer service-oriented Safety courtesy patrol.

3. Using and maintaining all handheld devices, the posted officer will take pictures, record audio, and enter descriptive text-based entries of their patrols and findings during their shift. Maintains inventory control and maintenance of Safety / security-related equipment. (Radios, clipboards, flashlights, vehicles, etc.)

4. Identify violations of community policies to provide a comfortable living environment for current and prospective clients.

5. Responds to and work collaboratively with all requests from SFRC staff.

6. Monitors all activities at their assigned site through foot patrol, video surveillance, or alarm monitoring.

7. Perform Safety related Repairs and or corrections to meet OHSHA compliance

8. Perform Daily / Monthly safety reporting for all locations.

9. Monitor and maintenance all life safety devices located in facilities (Fire Extinguisher / exit lights / AED, etc.

10. Performs reporting and record-keeping related to Safety / security operations on a monthly bases

11. Handles emergencies and critical incidents such as trespassers, fire, medical situations, potential threats, and other emergency situations.

12. Ensures proper safety management of facilities-related issues.

13. Conducts timely patrols and appropriately challenges unauthorized visitors.

14. Maintains confidentiality related to HIPPA law and assures discreet handling in all aspects of the business.

15. Stay awake the entire shift assuring all staff and clients are in a safe working environment.

16. Must attend all Mandatory Staff Meetings and / or workshops as required.

17. Help with staff DOT drive training and any other company vehicle policies and procedures.

18. Other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS :

1. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency or crisis situations.

2. Ability to maintain health and safety and infection control standards.

3. Computer experience, knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn MS Office and electronic medical records system (EMR-Bear).

4. Ability to solve unexpected problems as they arise while considering liability, precedence, programmatic implications, and other possible future impacts on the program, services, or organization.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.

6. Must be able to write professional reports

7. Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills

8. Excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

9. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.

10. Ability to exercise tact, patience, and discretion when dealing with residents, families, staff, and the public.

11. Ability to relate with understanding and kindness to residents and their families.

12. Ability to keep observations, conversations, and information confidential.

13. Advanced knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality.

14. Advanced knowledge of OSHA compliance.

15. Advanced knowledge of Life safety devices (AED, First Aid, Bloodborne, etc.)

Ability to perform safety related table talks drills / fire drills with all staff.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Must have a high school diploma or GED

2. Must have a reliable transportation

3. Must have a current and valid NM driver's license, plus a clean driving record in order to be insurable to drive SFRC vehicles

4. In the case of a recovering person, he / she must have successfully maintained a two (2) year period of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and / or drugs.

5. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification card on file.

6. Bi-lingual / Bi-cultural preferred (English / Spanish).
