Equipment Operator
Under general supervision, the Equipment Operator utilizes and operates a variety of tools and material-moving equipment used in the maintenance and repair of streets, water and sewer lines, collection and transportation of solid waste, Inert landfill, transfer station and other utility facilities and services. DIVISIONS WITH CURRENT OPENINGS : SANITATION, SEWER, STORM-SEWER, STREET, STREET RIGHT OF WAY, WATER. YOU MAY APPLY FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATION : SANITATION, SEWER, STORM-SEWER, STREET, STREET RIGHT OF WAY, WATER. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Previous related experience. Knowledge of SCADA and Cartegraph systems.
SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT ADDITIONAL DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONS : Meter Technician - Special Assignment ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs all essential duties and responsibilities of the Equipment Operator. Installs water meters in new construction; repairs water meters; takes water, lead, and copper samples for testing. Reads water meters, performs water turn on / off for non-payment, locates stop boxes, works on frozen water lines, converts meters, and performs service calls. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Must obtain Wastewater Collections I certification within 18 months of start date. Must obtain Water Distribution I certification within 18 months of start date.
Water Department Operator - Special Assignment ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs water meter repairs and replacements. Performs state and federal mandated water testing and reporting. Performs water curb stop repairs or replacement. Performs repairs to water service lines. Performs repairs to water main leaks. Performs repairs or replacement to water main fittings / valves. Operates and repair fire hydrants. Replace fire hydrants and valves. Thaw frozen hydrants and water services. Operates and maintain water towers. Performs the basic functions of our SCADA system. Performs snow removal operations. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to operate fifty percent of equipment, including truck / plow / sander / briner, vactor, loader / bucket / plow, motor grader, tool cat, bobcat with attachments, generators, brine blender, pumps, hydrants, mini excavator, loader / backhoe with attachments, boat, and air compressor. Must obtain Wastewater Collections I certification within 18 months of start date. Must obtain Water Distribution I certification within 18 months of start date.
Street or Street Right-of-Way Department Operator - Special Assignment ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs street paving and maintenance operations. Performs pothole repairs. Performs curb and gutter repairs. Performs basic concrete flat work. Performs sidewalk repairs. Performs Dura Patch repairs to roadways. Performs crack sealing repairs on roadways. Performs storm sewer catch basin repairs. Repair and install street signage. Performs gravel road maintenance. Performs mowing operations. Performs snow removal operations. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to operate fifty percent of equipment, including truck / plow / sander / briner, vactor, loader / bucket / plow, motor grader, street sweeper, tool cat, bobcat and attachments, zero turn mower, dura-patcher, generators, brine blender, and air compressor. Must obtain Wastewater Collections I certification within 18 months of start date. Must obtain Water Distribution I certification within 18 months of start date.
Storm Sewer Department Operator - Special Assignment ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs daily inspections on storm sewer collection system and ponds. Performs state and federal mandated storm water testing and reporting. Performs sludge removal and decommissioning of lagoon system. Performs repairs to storm sewer collection piping. Performs repairs to storm sewer force main leaks. Performs repairs or replacement to storm sewer main piping, fittings and valves. Operates and repair of storm sewer lift stations. Performs replacement or repairs to storm sewer manholes. Operates televise equipment and vactor truck to maintain storm sewer mains. Performs investigations and repairs to sink holes. Performs the basic functions of our SCADA system. Performs snow removal operations. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to operate fifty percent of equipment, including truck / plow / sander / briner, vactor, loader / bucket / plow, motor grader, tool cat, bobcat and attachments, generators, brine blender, pumps, mini excavator, loader / backhoe with breaker attachments, boat, air compressor, lift stations, push camera, sewer main camera, and dozer. Must obtain Wastewater Collections I certification within 18 months of start date. Must obtain Water Distribution I certification within 18 months of start date.
Sanitary Sewer Department Operator - Special Assignment ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs daily inspections on waste water system. Performs state and federal mandated sewage testing and reporting. Performs inspections and resolve Fog issues. Performs repairs to sewer service wyes. Performs repairs to sewer force main leaks. Performs repairs or replacements to sewer main pipe, fittings and valves. Operates and repair of sanitary lift stations. Performs replacements or repairs sewer manholes. Operates televise equipment and vactor truck to maintain sewer mains. Performs application of I and I prevention products. Performs the basic functions of our SCADA system. Performs snow removal operations. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to operate fifty percent of equipment, including : truck / plow / sander / briner, vactor, loader / bucket / plow, motor grader, tool cat, bobcat and attachments, generators, brine blender, pumps, mini excavator, loader / backhoe with breaker attachments, boat, air compressor, lift stations, and push camera. Sanitation Department Operator - Special Assignment ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Collects commercial and residential curbside or dumpster refuse; follows daily routes and schedules. Maintains and empties roll offs at compost collection sites on daily basis. Performs curbside solid waste collection. Collects tree trimming curbside. Answers customer questions while working at the Transfer Station. Operates roll-off trucks, empties commercial roll off customers. Operates the grapple truck for branch pick-up. Staffs the Transfer station; assists the public or commercial customers in disposing of refuse; off-loads haulers; prepares roll-offs for transportation to the Inert Landfill. Performs pre-route vehicle maintenance checks. Operates motorized vehicles and powered equipment. Performs maintenance checks on trucks; checks fluids, changes tires, etc. Performs various minor shop duties.
