Description : POSITION SUMMARY :

The main responsibility of the Diesel Mechanic is to maintain, repair and perform preventative maintenance on Dem-Con’s fleet of trucks and other assets as assigned. In addition, the position will work with the lead technician / s to diagnose and repair a variety of diesel trucks and equipment. The position will also complete dumpster repair and fabrication projects as assigned.

FUNCTIONS :

• Perform routine inspections of trucks and equipment and complete preventative maintenance as scheduled / needed.
• Diagnose and perform maintenance on Trucks, Trailers, and heavy equipment such as Loaders, Skid Steers and Forklifts.
• Communicate with leadership and operations to appropriately schedule any repairs, services and / or downtime of specific trucks or equipment.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication repair service on Trucks, Trailers, Dumpsters, or other fabrication projects as assigned.
• Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles and documenting parts usage.
• Perform all work safely and in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
• Ensure maintenance shop is maintained in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
• Research and order cost effective parts, maintain needed parts inventory, scheduling trucks as necessary to approved third party vendors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions including outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions and work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors, and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, the noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must have the ability to lift and / or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
