TheExecutive Producer at KIRO 7 News in Seattle, WA is a creative, fun, and detail-oriented executive producer who manages our dayside producer team made up of uniquely talented individuals.
This executive producer wears many hats : generating a large quantity of high-quality newscasts for TV, online, and OTT platforms.
The perfect candidate will be a proactive self-starter, managing several ongoing projects with little supervision - while seeking to create new ones.
The position requires a high-level understanding of TV and digital strategy and tactics, including visual storytelling, graphics, teases, and promotional opportunities.
As a newsroom leader, the expectation is that the Executive Producer will lead by example while working closely with producers and reporters on daily selection and coverage.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees daily newscasts to ensure we are aggressive on breaking news and are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert, protect and empower our audiences
Works with news managers to plan daily and long-term editorial coverage for newsroom
Supervises and coaches producers, as well as, reviews newscasts and reporter scripts providing feedback to encourage powerful showcasing and storytelling
Works closely with news team and creative services on promotable story strategy and generating new content ideas
Will help with long-term planning for big events, political coverage, and station / community initiatives
Works closely with KIRO’s creative team to execute high profile station initiatives and content for newscasts
Helps support strategy and distribution plan for content on TV, OTT, and all digital platforms
Manages producer schedules and fill-in produces as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Must be an innovator with a proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms
Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines
Must be a mentor and effective team leader - willing to give constructive feedback and coaching
Ability to proactively identity problems and provide solutions
A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics
Must understand and be able to execute on evolving digital platforms
Must be willing to work longer hours, on-call weekends, as needed
Minimum of 5 years of experience producing in a television news environment or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred
The salary range for this position is $95,000 per year to $118,000 per year. Final compensation for the role will be determined by a variety of factors such as skills, certifications, and relevant work experience.
