Job Title : Laser Operator

Summary : The laser operator is responsible for programming, operating and maintaining laser machinery for cutting and etching various grades of stainless steel sheet metal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Set up and operate laser machinery according to specifications provided.
• Select and import cutting programs into Sigmanest nesting software.
• Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
• Make proper set-ups for cutting operations.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise with laser machinery.
• Inspect and maintain laser machines to ensure they are in good working condition. Perform prescribed maintenance as required.
• Detect and report defective materials.
• Issue materials used into an ERP system.
• Perform other related operations as required or directed. May work at different workstations as production needs require.

Requirements :

Supervisory Responsibilities : This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Forklift and overhead crane certification.

Other Skills and Abilities : Must be able to read and interpret drawings, routers, use simple / basic math, and basic hand-held measuring tools. The ability to understand and communicate information is essential. Must be able to work and stay on task with little supervision.

Education / Requirements : Proven experience as a Laser Operator required. Experience running Mitsubishi LVP laser a plus. High School Diploma or GED.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment : Work is performed in a shop environment. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise, and dust.
