Quality Systems Specialist

Join our dynamic team as a Quality Systems Specialist, where you will be responsible for organizing and controlling quality documentation, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and regulatory standards, and supporting audits. You will play a crucial role in improving product quality and process efficiency through data-driven recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and control quality documentation including procedures, work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO / AS9100 or equivalent quality management systems and regulatory standards.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing records, documentation, and evidence of compliance.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production and quality data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop dashboards, metrics, and reports for management review.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to improve product quality and process efficiency.
  • Lead and execute First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 or equivalent standards.
  • Maintain FAI records and ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
  • Support MRB activities and coordinate with engineering, production, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Manage calibration, inspection records, and quality-related administrative systems.
  • Provide support for troubleshooting quality issues related to electrical and mechanical parts.
  • Serve as a compliance and quality resource for engineering, production, and supply chain teams.
  • Support supplier quality activities, including incoming inspection documentation review and data analysis.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality documentation, compliance requirements, and FAI processes.

Essential Skills

  • ISO and / or AS9100 standards knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ERP / MRP and QMS software preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive process improvements.
  • Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or medical devices.
  • Prior involvement in supplier quality or incoming inspection.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102.
  • Knowledge of electronic components, PCB assemblies, cable / wire harnesses, and electromechanical products.
  • Ability to review schematics, assembly drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform inspections and audits on electronics / electromechanical assemblies to verify workmanship and compliance with IPC / industry standards.
  • Work Environment

    You will be working in a contract manufacturing environment, supporting a variety of markets including medical, military, and semiconductor industries. This role is ideal for engineering students from tech schools with an interest in electronics.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cranston, Rhode Island.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $33.65 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
