Job Description
The Memphis VA Medical Center has an opening for an on-site Primary Care Women’s Health Physician that offers a dual academic appointment with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). This position reports directly to the Chief of Primary Care and works as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, collaborating with other members of the team to provide comprehensive Women's Health and Primary Care to female Veterans enrolled in the Women’s Health Clinic. The physician is expected to demonstrate advanced competencies and skills in assessing the physical and psycho-social status of patients and family members, play an active role in the multidisciplinary healthcare team, promote preventive health measures, manage the acute and chronic conditions of his / her assigned panel of patients and those patients assigned to other team members when circumstances require.
The Medical Center consists of one main campus and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). It’s a 1a-complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to over 47,000 veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs.
