• NIHSS Required or willingness to complete certification prior to start
• Ability to work every other weekend
• Willingness to float to other Medical Surgical Units, ICU Units, and ED waiting rooms

Description :

This is a 40 bed medical surgical unit specializing in the care of patients with neurological disorders.

Types of patients include those with Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, and other inflammatory disorders of the brain and spinal cord.

A large spinal surgery population is cared for, including post-operative neuro-surgery, orthopedic surgery, laminectomy, and spinal fusion patients.

The unit includes six step-down / telemetry beds and six bariatric beds, allowing for diverse patient care.

There is a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for admitted seizure patients starting at age 5.

The nurse to patient ratio ranges from 1 : 4 to 1 : 5.

Equipment utilized includes EPIC and Pyxis.

Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy.

The unit includes care for patients with varied diagnoses including stroke and seizures.
